A Touch to Remember

People flow through our lives
for various amounts of time
and countless reasons.
They breathe life into you,
give you something you need.
A little advice.
A shoulder to weep on.
A moment of contemplation.
Some much needed sunshine.

How many strangers less friend
more acquaintance have you known
who have touched your life?
Soft and smooth,
relaxing and rejuvenating.
rough and raw,
thought provoking and wise.
Each with their own unique styles of giving something.

The lady at the checkout counter.
There for a few years.
Generous with a smile.
Sharing between you both little bits of life.
Suddenly gone.

Do you remember her?
Did she touch your life?
Then remember her.

The Mechanic at the repair shop.
Always ready to help.
Generous with advice. Worked there for years.
Suddenly gone.

Do you remember him?
Did he touch your life?
Then remember him.

The Librarian at the reference desk.
There when you were a teenager
and still there when you became a parent.
Generous with her help and time.
Suddenly gone.

Do you remember her?
Did she touch your life?
Then remember her.

A fellow writing group member.
Had a touch of rough but brimmed with character.
Generous with his sarcasm and wit.
An enthusiastic storyteller.
Suddenly gone.

Did he touch my life?
Yes he did.
Will I remember him?
Yes I will.

P.S Thank you Frank for your brief appearance in my life.
Although I wish it could have been many years,
I understand it was not meant to be.
You and your sparkle touched my heart and

I will remember.
